I got the following e-mail from Anna Lynn Bell, who is in charge of the academic advising office: "I want to let you know about a great resource for your students who may need academic advising help this semester. The Madison Advising Peers housed in University Advising/University Studies are undergraduate students who have been trained to: · Assist their peers with General Education requirements, · Map out 4 year academic plans, · Register for classes via MyMadison · Prepare questions and materials in advance of meeting with their major advisor and · Assist with other general advising questions. Peer academic advisors are available on a walk-in basis in Wilson Hall, room 102, from 10:00 am–5:00 pm Monday –Thursday and from 10:00 am – 3:30 pm on Fridays. Madison Advising Peers were selected from a competitive application process, have at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA, and have a track record of serving as academic role models for other students. The MAPs are jointly supervised by Dr. Herb Amato, Associate Dean in University Studies and Ms. Anna Lynn Bell, Director of University Advising. Thank you in advance for referring your students to the MAPs. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at bellal@jmu.edu or call 568-7350."
